Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Prayer Times Global collects, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: you do not need an account to use this site, we never ask who you are in order to show you a prayer time, and we do not sell personal information.

Last updated: 3 August 2026

Who we are

Prayer Times Global operates the website at prayertimesglobal.com. For the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation we are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us through the form on our contact page, which is the only contact route we operate.

What we collect

Information you give us

The only way you can give us personal information directly is through the contact form. It asks for your name, your email address, the topic of your message, and optionally a city and date if you are reporting an incorrect prayer time. We use your email address solely to reply to you.

Submissions are stored on our own server so that a report is never lost to a mail failure, and a copy is sent to us by email. We keep them for as long as needed to deal with the matter and to maintain a record of corrections we have made to the site. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list and we do not use the address for anything other than answering you.

The form also records the time of submission and applies a rate limit based on your IP address. That is an anti-abuse measure only; the address is held briefly for that purpose and is not attached to your message.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly all websites, our servers record standard technical data when a page is requested: the IP address making the request, the browser and operating system reported by that browser, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This data is used to keep the site running, to diagnose faults, and to detect abuse. Server logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted.

Location

The site offers a feature that finds the city nearest to you. If you use it, your browser will ask your permission first. If you agree, your approximate coordinates are used within your browser to select the closest city we cover, and you are sent to that city’s page. We do not transmit your coordinates to our servers, and we do not store them. If you decline the permission prompt, everything else on the site works normally.

What we do not collect

We do not require registration. We do not ask for your name, postal address, telephone number, date of birth, or any financial information. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them in the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary. A small number of cookies are needed for the site to function, including remembering your language preference between English and Arabic. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
  • Preferences. If you change a setting such as a calculation method or madhab, we may store that choice locally in your browser so you do not have to set it again. This is held on your device and is not sent to us as a personal identifier.
  • Analytics. We may use an analytics service to understand aggregate usage, such as which cities are most requested and where errors occur. This tells us how the site is used in aggregate, not who you are.
  • Advertising. Where advertising is displayed, our advertising partners may set cookies. See the section below.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser allows this, and doing so will not prevent you from reading prayer times on this site.

Advertising

This site may display advertising supplied by Google, including through Google AdSense. Where it does:

  • Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on this site.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by many other vendors at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.
  • Third party vendors set their own privacy policies, which govern their handling of any data they collect. We do not control those policies.

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt before non-essential advertising or analytics cookies are set, and personalised advertising is not enabled unless consent is given. You can withdraw consent at any time through your browser settings.

Third party services we rely on

  • Aladhan. Prayer time calculations are computed using the Aladhan astronomical service. Requests are made from our servers using city coordinates, not from your browser, so your IP address is not disclosed to that service.
  • Our hosting provider. The site is hosted on commercial infrastructure that processes server logs on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
  • Font delivery. Typefaces are served from a privacy-oriented font content delivery network that does not set cookies and does not log IP addresses for tracking purposes.

Legal basis for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases. Legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and operational and for understanding aggregate usage. Consent for non-essential cookies, for advertising personalisation, and for the browser location feature. Legitimate interests for handling correspondence you initiate. Where we rely on consent you may withdraw it at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California may request disclosure of categories of personal information collected and may opt out of any sale of personal information, though we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, use the form on our contact page and select “Privacy or data request” as the topic. We respond within one month. In practice, because we hold almost nothing, most requests are resolved by confirming that we hold no data on you beyond any message you have sent us through the contact form.

If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Data retention and security

Server logs are held for a limited operational period and then deleted. Contact form submissions and any correspondence arising from them are retained while relevant and then removed. The site is served exclusively over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not hold sensitive personal data that would be attractive to an attacker.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, it is protected by an appropriate safeguard such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
